Cookie Policy
This page explains the cookies we set, what each one is for, and how you can change your mind at any time.
Your choice
When you first visit, we ask whether you accept optional cookies. Only strictly necessary cookies are set before you answer — no analytics or marketing script is loaded at all until you choose to allow it. You can accept everything, reject everything, or pick individual categories, and rejecting is exactly as easy as accepting.
Cookies we use
Analytics cookies are listed because we intend to introduce analytics. They are not set unless and until you enable that category.
Categories
Strictly necessary cookies are required for the site to work, including the cookie that remembers your choice. They cannot be switched off.
Analytics cookies help us understand which pages are useful. Marketing cookies would let us measure our campaigns; we run no marketing tags today. Both are off unless you turn them on.
How we record your choice
Your decision is stored in a cookie named ic_consent on your device, containing the categories you allowed, the date, and a randomly generated reference ID. That ID is not used to identify you or to track your browsing — it exists solely so the record below can be matched to your choice.
We also keep a record on our own servers of each choice made, including choices to reject. Each entry holds the reference ID, what was chosen, when, the version of this policy in effect, your browser's user-agent string, and a one-way cryptographic hash of your IP address. We do not store the IP address itself. These records are kept for three years and then deleted automatically.
We keep this record because data protection law requires us to be able to demonstrate that consent was properly obtained. Because rejections have to be evidenced just as much as acceptances, a rejection is recorded too. This record-keeping is necessary for us to comply with that legal obligation, and so does not itself depend on your consent.
Changing or withdrawing your choice
Use the button above, or the Cookie Settings link in the footer of any page. If you turn off a category that was previously on, we delete the cookies in that category and reload the page so that nothing from it keeps running.
You can also clear cookies in your browser settings. If you do, we will ask for your choice again on your next visit, because the record of it lived in the cookie you removed.
When we will ask again
Your choice is remembered for six months. We will also ask again sooner if the cookies we use change, so that your decision always reflects what is actually running on the site.
